I don't like to get too much into my personal politics on this site because it's really nobody's business. Also, when you talk about politics, it's serious and I only like to offend people when it comes to very un-serious topics, like Disturbed. hahaha
Anyway...M. Shadows, lead singer for Avenged Sevenfold was recently interviewed in which he discussed his Republican-ness and explained that the song, "Blinded in Chains" in NOT an anti-war song. It's actually discussing the war between Democrats and Republicans.
I may not agree with everything M. Shadows talks about regardless as to the topic, but I do agree with his comment on "political" bands.
"Ninety percent of those bands are talking -- about [President] Bush to 16-year-old kids who can't vote and are just ranting because it's the cool thing to do."
I agree completely. I get it that underage kids have a right to have an opinion. I'm all for being up on current events. But how can these bands feel validated when they are being encouraged by kids who don't even have a grasp on the english language. I won't single anyone out, but I read stuff on these bulletins boards that is practically illegible and these are usually the same people who are complaining about politics and President Bush. If you can't spell non-phonetically or have no grasp of punctuation then you have no right to have a political opinion. Your hierarchy of needs isn't high enough yet.
