It's not perfect, but at least it's progress.

My opinion of the whole illegal downloading thing sparked quite the debate here in MySpace world. Continuing with the coverage, we found out that Universal Records is supporting a new downloading site that is meant to compete with iTunes. It may very well suck, but at least it's a start.

The downloading will be free with the site relying on advertising revenue to pay the bills. They are hoping that this will be the beginning of a new era in digital music.

However, "the rules" still sound a little shifty:

"Customers will be able to download an unlimited number of Universal songs to their computer and one other device. They will not be able to transfer those songs onto a compact disc, and they must visit the site at least once a month to maintain access to their music."

So I guess we'll see what happens huh?
