A7X are Republican...in case you didn't know.

I don't like to get too much into my personal politics on this site because it's really nobody's business. Also, when you talk about politics, it's serious and I only like to offend people when it comes to very un-serious topics, like Disturbed. hahaha

Anyway...M. Shadows, lead singer for Avenged Sevenfold was recently interviewed in which he discussed his Republican-ness and explained that the song, "Blinded in Chains" in NOT an anti-war song. It's actually discussing the war between Democrats and Republicans.

I may not agree with everything M. Shadows talks about regardless as to the topic, but I do agree with his comment on "political" bands.

"Ninety percent of those bands are talking -- about [President] Bush to 16-year-old kids who can't vote and are just ranting because it's the cool thing to do."

I agree completely. I get it that underage kids have a right to have an opinion. I'm all for being up on current events. But how can these bands feel validated when they are being encouraged by kids who don't even have a grasp on the english language. I won't single anyone out, but I read stuff on these bulletins boards that is practically illegible and these are usually the same people who are complaining about politics and President Bush. If you can't spell non-phonetically or have no grasp of punctuation then you have no right to have a political opinion. Your hierarchy of needs isn't high enough yet.

The Umbrella Academy - G. Way news

Gerard Way, who I have come to realize is called "Gee" by his obviously more devoted than myself following, is releasing a comic book entitled, "The Umbrella Academy."

Dark Horse describes The Umbrella Academy as the story of Sir Reginald Hargreeves — a "world-renowned scientist and inventor, intrepid adventurer, successful entrepreneur, champion cricketer and closet space alien...and his family of superpowered, super-abnormal superheroes."

The comic is being released through Dark Horse Comics

--------------------------------------------------------

Can I have a moment here? I want everyone to take special notice of the stupid things written in this article that I assume are supposed to be funny:

- "Perhaps we should just hold a tournament to determine the geekiest rock band in the world."

Shame-free says - I think a better tournament would be to see who is the crappiest music television station. Wait, that wouldn't even last long enough to bother.

-"My Chemical Romance frontman, artist and longtime comic aficionado Gerard Way took steps to reclaim his uncool crown, announcing plans to pen his very own comic book series."

Shame-free says - Hasn't it been like a million years since people sterotyped comic book people are uber-nerds? Get with the times MTV...bunch of losers...

-"Mikey's superpower would probably be Lasik-related"

Shame-free says - I know he got the surgery but what does this even mean? It's just stupid.

111 Wussiest Songs of All Time

So, AOL decided to make a list of the 111 Wussiest Songs of All Time. The list contains many songs you wish you could never heard again, but unfortunately, you probably will. However, there are a few winners and a few classics that whether or not they are wussy, shouldn't have been on this list. Oh well....

By the way, speaking of wussy, this is the disclaimer AOL made about why the songs were chosen.

"This list was compiled by real-live wusses...from Los Angeles (Bread Country) to Dublin (land of Gilbert O'Sullivan). Our panel of wussperts limited the selections to songs from...the rock 'n' roll era: no '40s crooners, no show tunes, no Anne Murray. When compiling, we picked one selection to represent each artist...the songs were selected for their inherent wussness, regardless of quality. Some are loathed, some are cherished . . . all are wussy."

They couldn't even have some conviction about their choices? You will rarely see me make apologies about my opinions, and if you do, I am probably being an ass or just lying. ;)

Here are the Top 10:

1.) Shiny Happy People - R.E.M.

2.) Sometimes When We Touch - Dan Hill

3.) Michael Jackson - Ben

4.) James Blunt - You're Beautiful

5.) Poison - Every Rose Has It's Thorn

6.) Longer - Dan Fogelberg

7.) What's Left of Me - Nick Lachey

8.) Do You Really Want to Hurt Me - Culture Club

9.) If - Bread

10.) Fix You - Coldplay

Radio Rebellion Tour

Norma Jean, Between the Buried and Me, and Fear Before the March of Flames will be featured on the Radio Rebellion Tour beginning in Nashville October 6th.

"This is not a 'F*ck you, radio' thing," says tour co-founder Graham Day. "We're looking to promote this niche of bands that have an insane fanbase, who are loyal and love music, in a very grassroots way, just as these bands have managed to gain a following in a grassroots way. All the bands combined [have] sold over 500,000 records without the aid of radio."

I appreciate this. I personally don't like arena or festival shows because they're so impersonal and crowded. I would much rather be squeezed between 1000 people than 20,000 people. It also helps in the "mob rule" condition that tends to be created when you start getting above a few thousand people in one cramped location.Read more about the tour here

HIM on SNL

Now, I don't know about you guys, but I think we should forget all this small shit with Carson Daly and Jimmy Kimmel (no offense) and get HIM on SNL. I don't know if we could single-handedly do it, but I sure as hell know we could make an impact. I am making a small request...I want everyone who is up for the challenge to send them an email. I will even do all the hard work for you:

The Address: nbci.snl@nbc.com
The Title: HIM on SNL

The Body: We want to see HIM on SNL! If you haven't heard of HIM, they're a "Love Metal" band from Finland. They are on the verge of a major breakthrough in the US after several years of outstanding success in Europe. They have already been guests on Jimmy Kimmel and Carson Daly. Find out more about them at http://www.heartagram.com/

Thank you,
Devoted HIM fan

Now see how easy that is. You could even personalize it if you wanted and put your own name or add your own reasons why they should. I have just made it even easier for the more...should we say...activity inpaired among us.

Let's do it and make our own dent in HIM history!

*cough* Disturbed sucks *cough*

David Draiman of Disturbed:
"I mean no disrespect to any of the bands out there, but I turn on the radio and most of the time I don't even know who it is because they all sound the same to me."
What the f**k is he talking about? He IS one of those bands. What a dumb shit, I swear. Disturbed and Godsmack are completely interchangable and if you don't agree, you don't know what you're talking about. You find me one person that likes one and not the other and I will die of shock.
I'm going to say something that may piss a few people off: Bands like Disturbed, Godsmack and Nickelback are for people who are under the impression they are being "hardcore" because their friends listen to Top 40 hits.

I found a time suck for the rest of your afternoon

If any of you are unfamiliar with a website called Metal Sludge, you should check it out. I hadn't really scoured the pages until this morning and I found a second called, EXPOSED!. They find old pictures of well-known musicians and out them in all their nerdy, pre-teen glory. Hi-larious.For instance, did you know that Brandon Boyd (Incubus) was nominated Best Looking in high school. hahaha
or maybe that Buckcherry used to be Slam Hound?

Interview with Adam Jones of Tool

Decibel Magazine recently did an interview with Adam Jones of Tool and it's actually pretty good. Not the usual boring crap you read in interviews. Below are a few pieces of it, but the whole thing is pretty interesing.

About their anonymity: "But, I’ll tell you, it was fun selling out a 10,000-seat hockey arena and going out front to watch the opening band without anyone recognizing you."

How to look at the 10,000 days artwork: "Well, basically what you need to do is relax your eyes, and hold the viewer about a foot away from your face..."

like those Magic Eye things...anyone remember those?

About the titles of "The Pot" and "Rosetta Stoned": “The Pot” is just short for “The pot calling the kettle black.” “Rosetta Stoned” is kind of a reference to the irresponsible way to try and expand your mind through drugs."

About wierd gifts from fans: "Well, you know, being a kind of art-based band, we get all kinds of paintings and drawings and sculptures; just weird little packages with junk in them. It’s nice."

If you don't know who Adam Jones is, he's Tool's guitarist and the man behind all their cool artwork and videos.

Big Shocker...

Carmen Electra and Dave Navarro have gone their seperate ways. Are you shocked? I'm not. His busy schedule promoting RockStar: Supernova must have gotten in the way of her busy schedule acting like a skank. Don't send me hate mail, I used to think she was kinda alright until I saw this. It's so gross you won't be able to watch it unless you're 18 or you sign-in like you are.

Apparently the split is amicable, which means that they don't want the bad press about how pissed Carmen was that Dave kept using all her MAC. Seriously, look at this man. He was hot like 10 years ago and now he just looks like a tranny.Could he be any more metro?

Tommy Lee is going to be in a movie?

Tommy Lee will be making his acting debut in the movie 10th + Wolf. I don't know much about Tommy's acting skills and even with the trailor, I still don't know much, they only show him at the end. From the loks of it, it's a gangster movie and I love, love, love ganster movies.

The cast also includes Giovanni Ribisi, Dennis Hopper, Val Kilmer, Piper Perabo, Dash Mihok (former boyfriend of Alanis Morissette), Lesley Ann Warren, Brian Dennehy and Brad Renfro who I am surprised had time to make a movie considering his busy schedule of being a coke-head.

Either way, the trailer looks pretty good. Watch it here.

A7X's Johnny Christ talks aboout Ozzfest

Here's the long and short of the interview:

-He's buying a $5000 grill. No, not a grill to roast weenies, it's for his teeth. A "white-gold pair with A7X -- the abbreviation for his band's name -- spelled out up top in diamonds. But he's already keen to sink his teeth into a new pair of grills, a red, white and blue set that should have him grinning ear to ear when they're ready in a few weeks."

-They refer to City of Evil as "heavy-as-an-oil" drum. I'm not sure how much an oil drum weighs but I know when I have to go fill up the gas can for the mower, it's pretty heavy.

-They have sold 640,000 copies of COE, which is a lot considering how many clowns out there steal music.

-Johnny says about some metal fans, "I guess we're not 'extreme' enough, because we don't scream every lyric, so there's some kids out there that don't necessarily like that..."

-He talks about how they always try to put on an awesome show because "You just want perfection, and we want to get out there and do the best we can and really put the naysayers to shame."

Not a great interview...but fair I guess. At least they weren't talking about strippers and cocaine like they usually do when they interview A7X.

The Who have released some dates for their upcoming North American tour. Roger Daltry and Pete Townshend are the only surviving members of The Who, so I guess this is more like 1/2 of The Who going on a North American tour.

Tickets will be $1 million dollars a piece. Not quite...$97, $77 and $52 so yeah, they might as well be a million.
As a side note, can I just say that Roger Daltry, despite being older than baseball is still a total fox? Pete Townshend on the other hand, looks exactly like my father. No really...they could be related.

Hard Rock amusement Park?

Hard Rock Cafe will now be delving into the world of theme parks. The new "rock-themed" park, set to open in 2008 will be located in Myrtle Beach, SC. Developers and South Carolina Governor, Mark Sanford broke ground today with Gibson Guitar fitted with silver shovel heads.

The project will cost around $400 million dollars, funded by Africa Israel and international investment company.

I am well aware of how corporate Hard Rock is. I get it. Yet, I will not lie. I collect the shotglasses, I eat there when I travel and yes, I will probably go to this theme park. Do you know why? Do you really want to know why? Because when I go to a tourist trap city, which is where they always are, it's the only place and can have a temporary sanctuary. Sanctuary from what you ask? From all the f**king Top 40 hits I have to hear at places like Applebee's and O'Charley's. Call me what you will but I am totally owning this one. If looking like an asshole means I still get to eat dinner while listening to Iron Man, then so be it. We're all padding the wallets of "the man" in one way or another, my dollars just happen to be getting me Joe Perry quesadillas and Waboritas. Holla!

Syd Barrett dead at 60.

Co-founder of Pink Floyd, Syd Barrett died at age 60. Barrett had been living with his mother in Cambrige for the past 30 years following a decline in his mental health. This is why you don't do acid, kids.

"The band are naturally very upset and sad to learn of Syd Barrett’s death," the surviving members of Pink Floyd said in a statement. "Syd was the guiding light of the early band lineup and leaves a legacy which continues to inspire."

"According to San Bernardino County sheriff's deputies, a brief power failure interrupted the performance of Avenged Sevenfold at about 7:20 p.m. and led some frustrated fans to start two small fires on the back lawn of the pavilion. No one was injured and power came back on shortly after 8 p.m. "

Golden Gods Issue out now!

Metal Hammer has released their Golden Gods 2006 issue. Buy it bitches!

Varg Vikernes not released from prison. (big surprise...)

There's a whole long, drawn-out story behind this situation, but here's the 5th-grade Easy Reader version:

There was the guy named Euronymous who was the former guitarist for Mayhem, a Norwegian black metal group. As Mayhem gained popularity, Euronymous got out of hand and started doing crazy things, like inciting fans to burn down churches. When Dead, the singer for Mayhem violently killed himself by shooting himself in the head with a shotgun, Euronymous responded by saying that, "It was the best thing Dead ever did for the band." Nice....reeeal nice. There were also rumors about him eating his dead friends brains and making jewelry from his skull fragments. Whatever...

So, now we get to good ol' Varg. Varg Vikernes was at one time friends with Euronymous, but when he felt that Euronymous was getting to be more evil than he was, he decided to kill him. He went to his house to discuss the record deal he had with Euronymous's label and stabbed him in the chest, in the back and then to finish him off, once in the skull for a total of 23 wounds. Varg later did an interview with Kerrang! and upon being asked about the murder, he showed no remorse by saying, "Euronymous' death means nothing to me. I will dance and piss on his grave."

That's very special of you Varg.

So, needless to say, Varg was arrested and out in prison for 21 years with possible parole after serving 12. His parole which recently came up, was of course denied.

Ozzfest - Day 1

Here is the part where I will summarize this MTV article because it takes three days to read.

- Avenged Sevenfold won over a tough metal crowd with a cover of Pantera's Walk. Anyone who is an A7X fan knows that this cover's been floating around for a while. MTV acts like A7X played it to win over the crowd.

"In short, when in doubt at Ozzfest, cover Pantera." - This is why I hate MTV. They're morons.

- Ozzy played the second stage and didn't lost his voice this time.

-Disturbed played a sound set and David Draiman had everyone recreate the cover of their Ten Thousand Fists album cover. Sounds cool...not.

- System of A Down acted like whiney little bitches and threw barbs at one another. Remember though, they're not breaking up, they're going on hiatus....yeah f**king right.

"During "B.Y.O.B.," Malakian rethought the lyric, "We don't live in a fascist nation," by quickly muttering, "Yes, we do." Some fans, well aware of the band's post-Ozzfest plans, raised an eyebrow or two when, during "Lonely Day," Malakian turned and looked at frontman Serj Tankian as he sang, "Such a lonely day, hanging out with the band/ This mother----er, I can't stand."

- Lacuna Coil covered Depeche Mode.

Yup, I think that about covers it.

If you've got two or three hours to blow feel free to read the entire article.

"So get down and meet me on the floor"

Veruca Salt is still around. Nina Gordon is still around. They are just not one-in-the-same anymore.

If you don't know who Veruca Salt is, they were a rowdy 'grrrl' group from the 90's. Then Nina Gordon had to screw things up and start a solo career. It sucked. However, they are both coming out with new albums, Nina and Veruca that is.
