It's not perfect, but at least it's progress.

My opinion of the whole illegal downloading thing sparked quite the debate here in MySpace world. Continuing with the coverage, we found out that Universal Records is supporting a new downloading site that is meant to compete with iTunes. It may very well suck, but at least it's a start.

The downloading will be free with the site relying on advertising revenue to pay the bills. They are hoping that this will be the beginning of a new era in digital music.

However, "the rules" still sound a little shifty:

"Customers will be able to download an unlimited number of Universal songs to their computer and one other device. They will not be able to transfer those songs onto a compact disc, and they must visit the site at least once a month to maintain access to their music."

So I guess we'll see what happens huh?

Gwen denounces the VMA's

Poor Gwen. Things must be so hard for her. A great career with No Doubt, an even bigger solo career and a husband that is one of the hottest men I have ever seen in my life. Despite Gwen's achievements, she's still a self-conscious little girl and she is convinced that MTV has it out for her. Whether she is right or wrong (i'm leaning towards just being a little whiney), I won't make the call, but I would probably be pissed if Kelly Clarkson were chosen over me too.

According to PageSix:

"GWEN Stefani has had it with the MTV Video Music Awards. The "No Doubt" cutie is said to be "boycotting" tomorrow's show because of the shoddy treatment she got last year. "She had a ton of nominations and was under the impression she would be taking home at least one award," our insider said. "But every award, except that lame best-dressed award, went to Kelly Clarkson, and every time Kelly won, the camera went straight to Gwen. She felt set up." Stefani also thought she was going to close the show - another honor that went to Clarkson. Stefani's rep declined comment."

All kinds of MCR news

As we all know, MCR have a new album coming out called 'The Black Parade.' It's set to release October 24th, but they will debut the first single, "Welcome to the Black Parade" at the VMA pre-show on Thursday night.

Way discusses the album with Billboard.com explaining that 'The Black Parade' is a concept album in which he embodies a person known as "The Patient" through which he is channeling the songs. He goes on to tell MTV.com that this is themain explaination for the change in his hair color. Way wanted "to look like this guy, the Patient, who may have gone through chemotherapy," so that "that energy into my vocal performances."

The band itself also has a new alter ego, The Black Parade. Gerard wants to make it perfectly clear though, that they are still My Chemical Romance. "There was a certain point where it was so dark for us that it felt like we needed to become much more than brothers and we also needed to become a new band," Way explains. "We really did it this time and became a different band. But make no mistake, we are My Chemical Romance still."

Sounds a little crazy if you ask me, but I'll let it ride if it means that album will be killer. They also had bottles thrown at them at Carling...asshole kids.

ahahahaha....funny picture

Pantera's publicist ain't havin' none of that!

E! Television would exhume Princess Diana's body if they thought they could make a countdown story out of it. They don't know where to stop but leave it to Pantera's publicist to make sure E! knows exactly how he felt about them asking to re-create Dimbags' death.

"I would like to request that you please read this out out loud to all the creative geniuses in the programming department that came up with this idea....We have received your request to license footage on Dimebag Darrell Abbott for your upcoming production of, "25 Most Chilling Hollywood Murders."

'While we realize the average E! audience most likely has the IQ of an umbrella, they collectively are a smarter bunch than the lot of you. Your programming creativity falls somewhere to the bottom of the middle at best, and that's saying a lot. I ask that you all please take a moment from your busy days and close your eyes. Live out the fantasy of playing your favorite instrument onstage. Your closest friends in the world surround you, either in the band or in your crew. From one side of the stage, a man approaches. Thinking he's a security guy or a drunk fan who's just a bit out a line, you continue to perform. Two seconds later, he lifts his arms, aims a rifle at your brother, your best friend, your buddy and blows his brains out, not three feet from where you are. In the nanosecond it takes you to comprehend the magnitude of what just happened, he does it again ...and again ...and again ...and again ...and again ...and again before taking aim and murdering additional members of your extended family as well as fans that have come to see you play. Two of your crew are shot but survive, but of course, will never be the same gain.

In case none of this appears clear enough and you need a definitive answer to your request...no. The answer is no, and on behalf of everyone that was there that night and everyone that misses him every day, you can take that no and shove it up your collective asses.

'Well, I guess that just about sums it up now doesn't it?

A7X news...motorcycles, Ozzfest, another U.S. tour?

Avenged Sevenfold are connoisseurs of many things: music, guitars, alcohol.......drugs.............girls and apparently motorcycles. In a recent interview Synyster Gates dicusses his new bike built by American Chopper.

“It’s a really long stretched out low rider with a metallic snakeskin paint job and it’s got my name, SYN, on the gas tank. It’s just a fuckin’ amazing bike! I had mine on Ozzfest so I’ve been taking it all over the place. It’s really fun to just get on a bike and just go and, I guess in a way, to be able to leave the tour and not be confined and all that kind of stuff.

Read the entire interview here

Now that Ozzfest is over, read a few reflections from M. Shadows.

Link - includes confirmation for a second U.S, tour this year and heading for the studio in 2007

Bruce vs. Sharon - again

When are they going to stop talking about this whole thing? If you don't know, Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden and Sharon Osbourne have been at each others throats for a few months now. He said something nasty to her and then she threw some eggs at him while he was onstage...it's been a real sideshow.

In a recent interview Bruce is still talking about it. Granted, they asked him the questions, but just say "no comment." I'm not saying who is right or wrong, because they're both acting like assholes, but geez.

What Bruce had to say about Ozzfest:

"It was my usual love/hate relationship with corporate America," says Dickinson. "Ozzfest is a corporate rock event at which they sell the front 10-12 rows to corporate seats and not to kids. Most of the bands pay a lot of money to be on the Ozzfest, they get paid next to nothing. The whole way it's being portrayed as being some kind of altruistic holiday for all the bands is absolute nonsense, it's complete bullshit...We went out and we were like, 'Okay, why aren't there any people down the front?' Well, because it's restricted seating and because they don't have tickets...Some fat cunt with greasy hair sat eating his hamburger with 50 seats empty all around him. Where are all the kids? They're held behind the barrier and they can't get any closer..."

He compares his world to Sharons':

"What we do is we are a heavy metal band and what we care about is our fans. That's it. So our strength comes from that simplicity. You know, what do I care if I never appear on reality TV? 'Fucking great, thank you! Can I have it in writing?' But in her world, that's really important. In her world, it's really important what you look like. In her world, facelifts are really important. In my world, I don't give a fuck. I get old and I get wrinkly. Who gives a shit?"

Drama, drama, drama

Don Vito is probably a pervert.

Wait a minute...of course he's a pervert. Now, whether ot not he partakes of the more, shall we say, "youthful" ladies in the crowd I do not know. What I do know is that he was arrested on Friday for "suspicion of two counts of sexual assault on a child." EW.

Vito is being held under suspicion of findling 12- and 14- year old girls at a signing event in Lakewood Colorado with no bail.

I saw pictures of him one time at some skank party he threw or was at or something and I seriously have nightmares about the things I saw. I would find them, but I don't know if I can look at them again. I could probably draw a picture from memory. That's how disturbing they were.

Deftones/Veruca Salt - new albums

I know...I didn't think I would hear from them again either. Low and behold, Deftones and Veruca Salt are releasing new albums.

The Deftones album is set to release late October and will be titled "Saturday Night Wrist."Click here to see the track listing - remember when they used to look like this? This picture is old as dirt. haha

Stereogum.com has posted the new Veruca Salt single. I can't say I love it, but hell, they'll never be the same without Nina. However, I do agree with Stereogum:

"If it wasn't already clear, it is now: the Veruca girls parted ways after Eight Arms 'cause Nina wanted to write ballads for WB dramas ... and Louise wanted to fucking rock."

Chris Daughtry wears me out.

So, this guy Chris Daughtry, you know, the guy who was supposed to be the "rocker" from American Idol lost. He was offered the position of lead singer for the band Fuel, who lost Brett Scallions earlier this year and declined the offer. He recently was offered a record contract and is enlisting Fuel guitarist Carl Bell to collaborate. Does anyone else see anything wrong with this? So, you're too good to join their band (which you should have done anyway because people from American Idol suck) but he's good enough for you to hire to play with you?

Hmmmm

Also, he has tapped Rob Thomas and Brad Arnold to help write songs. Now, I like Matchbox 20, even if it is like, so VH1 it probably makes you guys puke, but if you are trying to start a career when ou already have American Idol-ism against you, why in the hell would you hire people who haven't had a hit sine what, 1997, to write your songs?

We won't even get into the fact that he had to hire someone to write his songs. Artist my ass.

Warped Tour line-up quickly diminishing

This Warped Tour has been plagued by heat and 50 dates in 60 days but if this wasn't bad enough, they have also brewed up some good ol' catfights. New-punk vs. Old-punk, righteous vs. sinner, new-fame vs. old-classic, they've got it all which has resulted in several bands dropping from the tour, including From First to Last and Underoath.

Fat Mike of NOFX and Me First and the Gimmie Gimmie's had this to say, "From First to Last (who bailed three weeks in) came on the tour like total rock stars, and everyone alienated them," he said. "And they were gone in a week or two."

Thursday's Geoff Rickly was a little more objective, "I think there's, like, two sides to the tour, and those sides are tense with each other," he said. "There are the young, scream-y bands and the old punk-rock bands, and there are only a few bands that can float through both worlds, like us and Rise Against and Anti-Flag. I think, in general, the old guys are like, 'Dude, all these young punks think they know everything,' and all the young bands are like, 'Dude, all these old guys, all they care about is themselves, and they don't want to support anything new.' Each of them has a little bit of truth, and it's also a little bit overblown in their own heads. It just makes it a little tenser than it needs to be, I guess."

It sounds like a mess if you ask me. You would think all these bands would just take this as an opportunity. I think they forget why they are there and that for the most part, they aren't that huge of a band. Who knows...maybe this is just survival of the fittest and Warped Tour is weeding out the weak. MWHAHAHAHA

Hawthorne Heights sues Victory Records

Victory Records is being sued by Hawthorne Heights for "severely damaged the band's reputation and relationship with their fans." Additionally, the band said in a statement that, "We have never seen a single dollar in artist royalties from Victory Records.

"However, Victory Records isn't backing down. In a statement of their own, via their attorney, they say, "Victory Records fully expects Hawthorne Heights to honor their commitment to deliver two additional studio albums to Victory pursuant to their recording artist agreement with Victory."

This is going to get ugly.

LimeWire is finally getting sued

I'm surprised this didn't happen years ago.

LimeWire a file sharing service I am sure most of you are familiar with is getting sued by Universal Music, Sony BMG, EMI Group Plc, and Warner Music Group Corp. They are asking for $150,000 in damages per song and are accusing LimeWire of promoting piracy, which in my opinion, they are.

Kazaa, which took over where Napster left off when they were demolished in 2001, was ordered to pay damages of over $100 million dollars to the movie and music industries.

Stealing music is stealing music regardless. I know it sucks, and I know people think CD's are expensive, but it's still theft if you download it without paying for it. People wonder why there is so much merchandise for bands at stores like Hot Topic...this is why. When bands aren't able to make money off of albums, they go to other avenues. They have expenses too, which CD sales are supposed to help cover. If no one is buying CD's but downloading the music for free, their money has to come from somewhere else. If you would like to go further into this, please message us...if not, I will save the rest of you from hearing me bitch.

Ok, I get it. You want MCR injury news.

Ok, so I scoured and scoured and this is what I have come up with.

Source #1: MCR pulled out of the Street Scene Festival on Saturday because of undisclosed injuries. Sources told AOL that Bob was the injured the worst with what could have been third degree burns. The Yeah, Yeah, Yeah's filled in for them.*Who can tell me how you can tell the person who wrote this article has no clue about MCR? Hint: check the obviously stock photo they used

Source #2: Gerard and Bob were both hospitalized. Gerard broke his ankle and Bob burnt himself with Gerards lighter. Hmm....ok.

So this is all I have guys. If you have information let us know and we'll add it to the rumor mill we have going here.

HIM to release DVD

I guess MTV may be good for something afterall.

Of course by this point in the game we all know that HIM is doing the "No Sleep Till Halloween Tour." However, according to MTV.com, "the tour will also serve as a promotional vehicle for the band's forthcoming, still-untitled DVD, which is slated for November release. The DVD, which will boast a bonus CD, follows H.I.M. through haunted castles in Scotland and is chock full of never-before-seen live footage and rare on-camera interviews."

With a Novenber release that's just in time for Christmas kiddies.

MCR album news

The new My Chemical Romance album is set to released on October 23rd. As stated by Mikey Way, "We want this to be the album that My Chemical Romance is remembered for. We all have records that shaped out childhood and teen years. When you hear a song, it shoots you back to a moment in time. We want this album to do that for people. We want the entire world to be moved."

This will either be really good or really bad. Their emphasis on wanting "the whole world to be moved" scares me. I don't really want 50-year-old golfers to be moved by MCR. You know what I mean?
