The scariest things I've seen this Halloween
Some of these are attributed to Halloween - some of them are just scary no matter what day it is.
Courtney Love has really outdone herself. Her selling of part of the Nirvana back catalog has resulted in the songs rights being sold for commercials and television shows. Eeek
Speaking of selling out - their new DVD titled "Live! Tonight! Sold Out!" is set to release and you can find the trailer on YouTube.com
Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley were the Grand Marshals at New York's Village Halloween Parade
Marilyn Manson opened his new art gallery today.

The Black Parade Review
I don't really do reviews, but for my favorites, I'll bend a little on my rule.
This album is fantastic and trust me, if it sucked, I would say so. I play favorites for no one. Except maybe Synyster...kidding, kidding. I digress....
Ok, the album DOES NOT SOUND LIKE THE FIRST TWO. It's hard to give a general synopsis of the album since really every song sounds different from the next.
The End is a great song. I don't like the cute irony of it being at the beginning of the album, but you can't win them all I guess. This song reminds me of Queen for some reason. It's passionate, arena rock-esque, anthem-type of stuff. Dead! however, isn't really doing it for me. It's not a bad song, but the first time I heard it, I kind of didn't realize it was on until it ended. The Sharpest Lives is the best track on the album. I'm actually surprised this wasn't the opening single. It sounds a little "Killers" but it's a prime example of how far they have come as a band. House of Wolves is your typical song in the middle that fans will love but people who are unfamiliar with the band "don't get." I like the lyrics on Mama, but I don't like the song, but as with most non-single MCR songs, you find one thing about it and decide that you love the entire song, even if you didn't like it the first few times you heard it so I am sure my opinion about this will change. Teenagers is well written - even if I don't really understand it. I think of it as a song showing both sides of the story, teenagers to adults and adults to teenagers. Maybe it's a metaphor for something else...who knows. Disenchanted is fair. It's a typical end-of-album song. I don't love it, but I don't hate it. For the past two albums, the last songs on the albums were the first ones to kind of strike me. Famous Last Words is epic, almost as epic as Welcome to The Black Parade and sure to become a favorite the more I listen to it.Like I said, the album is fantastic and considering it's only $9.98 this week at Target, you really have no excuse for not buying it. The album artwork is cool too, not original, Smashing Pumpkins has already used this schtick with ...Infinite Sadness, but cool just the same. It is obvious that the band have grown as musicians and Gerard as a lyricist and singer, even if at times it sounds over-produced, there is nothing wrong with a great rock and roll album, and that's exactly what this is.

Our boy David has once again outdone himself with a current remark about Genesis and in particular, Phil Collins.
From Launch Radio:
"DISTURBED currently has a huge hit with its cover of the 1986 GENESIS track "Land of Confusion". Vocalist David Draiman says he's heard the members of GENESIS like the DISTURBED version, but also told Launch that he's not concerned about their opinion either way. "To be honest with you, I really don't care what they think," he said. "You know, I'm not trying to jab or anything, I'm just saying that I'm not a fan. I'm a fan of GENESIS prior to Phil Collins. I don't really like Phil. But, you know, he's probably gonna end up making some money off this track, so I don't know what else to really articulate about it that isn't gonna get my butt in trouble (laughs).
"Let me make a few very obvious points:
1.) Disturbed is the suck.
2.) David Draiman is the suck.
3.) Phil Collins has had more hits than Distrubed or Draiman will ever dream of having and is a fantastic musician whether you like him or not.
4.) Phil Collins obviously isn't too shitty since he's making a buck off the song Phil was instrumental in creating.
5.) He doesn't care what they they? Go f**k yourself David. Seriously.
He can kiss my ass for sure. Why is it that people like him feel the need to crack on other people when they are nobodies? Draiman is better than no one and needs to remember that until he starts cranking some shit out that's worth listening to.
Bring it.

Nightmare Before Christmas Soundtrack news
Marilyn Manson did an interview with Danny Elfman (the man responsible for most music you hear on television and movies) and you can watch it here.
If you haven't heard any of the new songs, get on it kids. I swear, the Manson cover is SOO good.
Check out the MySpace here.
Hear clips of a few of the other songs here.
One degree of Billy Corgan
Kind of like six degrees of Kevin Bacon, but if you're talking about grunge and Billy Corgan, then it's really hard to get more then 2 or 3 degrees away.

MCR at the top of the heap once again...
Two posts in a row...pretty good. Anyway...
I found out some funny news from Stereogum.com. They were sent the new MCR album (jealous?) but it was sent under a pseudonym (look it up) so as to detract people from swiping it and causing a leaked release. Veeery interesting. However, word on the street is that starting Tuesday, Hot Topic will be playing the album in it's entirety over their speaker system.
Also, Kasabian is talking shit about them. But honestly, who is Kasabian anyway and who really cares what they think? I think there may be a bit of jealousy in the air. Oui?
Also, if you don't know already know, MCR has made the cover(s) of Kerrang! Five covers, one for each member. Gee, I wonder which one will sell out first?

This is some dumb-ass news.
First of all, Silverchair ain't cool and they ain't been cool for about 10 years. Why in the hell are people still talking about them. I'll tell you what I think about Silverchair, oh wait, I've already ranted about them once -> here
Secondly, this commercial has been on the air for at least a month...why is this getting reported on like it's new? It's been on so long, I'm sick of seeing it. Puh-lease.

My Chemical Romance UK tour news
KIDDING KIDDING KIDDING - actually, they have added more dates...
My Chem. have extended their UK tour to include the following dates:
March
20th Plymouth, Pavilions
21st Brighton, Centre
22nd Birmingham, NIA
24th Manchester, MEN Arena
25th Cardiff, Arena
26th Nottingham, Arena
27th Glasgow, SECC
29th London, Wembley Arena
and considering that all the November dates have sold out, you may want to get your tickets early.
Another small tidbit - they also say "Cancer" on the new album is possibly the darkest song even written. I don't know what that's supposed to mean really. Oh well...

Who Cares? and Random! in the same post!
It's like when I tell someone that someone I read or saw or whatever was soooo hilarious and that they are going to laugh so hard when they see it and then when they do they look at me blankly - SAME THING! I know that shit is funny but by the time they see it, it's just not anymore.
Link
Random, random, random. I like Scarlett Johansson (it's probably spelled wrong but I don't care enough to check.) She's beautiful, funny, self-deprecating...it's refreshing. However, I do not like the idea of her coming out with her own album. Sound like a big ass mess if you ask me.

If you are unfamiliar with the way this game works let me tell you that Beast and the Harlot showing up in "Face Melters" means that it's hard as shit to play, which in turn means that yes, Synyster Gates is an amazing guitarist. (before I get hate mail, Zacky is a great guitarist too, but the game is mostly based on lead and only slightly on rhythm so keep your fanatical impulses to yourself.)

Cradle of Filth & The 69 Eyes news
Link
Thornography songs and descriptions have now been posted on Cradle of Filth's website. Here is the description for "The Byronic Man", the song Ville is singing on.
"This song pretty much does what it says on the tin. Based on the infamous poet and Libertine Lord Byron, the song is written from a first hand perspective that is not only historical but also self-analytical, musing on the individual's slide into decline and relishing fully in it's rich, unwholesome flavour.Ville Valor from HIM was asked to contribute vocals to this song, firstly for the need for a good clean male vocal, but mainly for the necessity to portray the Byron character with someone who may well be tantamount to the modern day equivalent."
Maybe it's some sort of inside joke or something, but I'm more than familiar with HIM and I like to think I haven't gone all these years thinking his name was Ville Valo and NOT Ville Valor. No, I'm pretty sure I'm not wrong. Does anyone else think that's strange or just a typo?

New Gwen Stefani album

Gwen and I have a long, sordid history:
1994 - Due to the movie Clueless (which is awesome, if you don't like it, you don't get it) which featured "Just A Girl" I fall in love with No Doubt and think I am Gwen Stefani.
1995 - Less than 1 year later, she begins dating Gavin Rossdale, who I was certain was going to be my future ex-husband - I hate her guts and completely forget that No Doubt rocks. I am wishing things worked out with her and Tony.
2002 - Gwen and Gavin marry and I face the fact that I will never make out with him.
2003 - I like her again after No Doubt's cover of "It's My Life" for "The Singles" album.
November 2004 - I hear "What You Waiting For" and can't stop comparing it to "Hey Mickey." I hate the new album - thusly, I hate Gwen for making it.
December 2004 - I hear "What You Waiting For" 800 more times and decide that maybe it's not so bad.
May 2005 - I buy Love.Angel.Music.Baby and say I hate it but secretly listen to it when I am alone in my car.
May 2006 - Gwen has a baby and I feel like I should send them a baby gift - I may need to get out more.
October 5, 2006 7:35 pm - I read that Gwen is coming out with a new album - I have mixed feelings, but I think I may be alright with this.
October 5, 2006 7:37 pm - I read the rest of the article and find out that she is coming out with a line of dolls with changeable clothes - I am again disgusted.
Oh Gwen I just want to love you...why do you hurt me so?

Sam Goody, FYE and Cocobuts cut off nose to spite face.

I have a few thoughts about this:
1.) Sam Goody and the like aren't in a position to limit what they are selling to customers, they are already losing money hand-over-fist to free downloading, Best Buy, Wal-Mart, etc.
2.) Speaking of Wal-Mart, they tried banning the self-titled album by Sheryl Crow which ended up winning her two Grammy's. I don't care if you don't like Sheryl Crow and yes, her new stuff sucks royally. However, when she sang, "Watch out sister, Watch out brother/Watch our children as they kill each other/With a gun they bought at the Wal-Mart discount stores." she didn't back down when Wal-Mart felt they had been represented negatively. In an odd twist of irony, Wal-Mart who were so set against selling an album that they felt set them in a bad light, ended up paying 2.16 million dollars in a verdict that found them guilty of selling bullets to minors - bullets that were used to kill a man in Pensacola, FL.
Karma's a bitch.
Trans World should remember that. Trust me, they need Scissor Sisters worse than Scissor Sisters needs them...
Travis Barket and Paris Hilton - I think I'll puke
Please, take a seat...they are officially an item. I know...it's disgusting. I mean, what am I supposed to do with this information. I certainly didn't want to write about it, it's complete trash - but I had to let you all know.
It's a sad day, but honestly, I didn't really expect more out of either of them.
