New My Chem video - "Teenagers"

I'm not gonna lie - not my favorite but I do dig the girls in the gas masks with the night sticks. I think I may have my Halloween costume.

In Case You Missed It - Mikey Way in Blender

In case you missed it, Mikey Way did a short interview with Blender in this months issue. I have copied it for your reading pleasure.

Where are you, and what can you see?

I'm trapped on a tour bus in Germany. I can see my brother Gerard, and we're watching shitty sci-fi movies.

Why should we leave our air-conditioned McMansion to come see you play the Projekt Revolution Tour this summer?

People should come out if they want their faces melted off.

What's the best beach in New Jersey?

It would have to be Wildwood. It's one of the few beaches in Jersey where you won't step on a hypodermic needle.

Ever gotten lucky on a beach?

I found a $20 bill once.

Would you ever rock a Speedo?

If someone put a shotgun to my head.

Ever have a regrettable summer hookup?

Regret is a sign of weakness. Oh, and girls have cooties.

What's your favorite ice-cream truck song?

The Godfather theme. Yes, in Jersey, many an ice-cream truck played the Godfather theme.

How do you keep your makeup from running onstage when you get sweaty?

I don't. At the show we played tonight, eyeliner and sweat streamed into my eye and I was partially blinded.

Ever do socks with sandals?

You wouldn't catch my cold dead body with sandals on.

Is there a body part you hide during the summer?

All of them.

White Stripes and Keane

Watch the "Icky Thump" video premiere here. I DO NOT like the White Stripes but I might be able to accommodate a pinch of Jack White's ass for Sunshine if the occasion arrises.

I just don't think Keane tried very hard to be honest. I don't want to slag on them too hard but it's just not good.

Too much for Link it - not enough for it's own blog

HIM has pushed back the release date of their album until September. According to the interview with Wille Walo in Metal Hammer they won't be done recording until the end of June so the delay is no big shocker.

Also, why do people insist on writing HIM like this:

H.I.M.

I know so much shit about them I could write a HIM novel and I am 90% sure that the whole abbreviation of 'His Infernal Majesty' is no longer necessary. They haven't gone by that name for what, 12 years or something? I vow that if I ever meet Ville again (yes, again) I will ask him about the appropriate way to write their name.

Link

Stop sending death threats to the caterers who poisoned MCR and Muse you crazies. Oh yeah, MCR are on the cover of Rock Sound this month.

Link .. ..

Let me say this again because some people obviously missed the glaring message. STOP BUYING AVRIL LAVIGNE ALBUMS! The song Girlfriend should alone be enough for people to turn against her but this Blender spread is over the edge. If you bought her album and shame on you if you did then you have officially have no right to ever feel sorry for yourself ever again. You are not allowed to hate 'preps' or look down on boyfriend stealers because you are indeed supporting them. Don't like my opinion on her - I don't really care. I see DOZENS of bulletins a day with girls complaining about how they look or that they don't have a boyfriend or that girls are mean to them. F**k that. You want some empowering music because you need some support so you pop in some Avril Lavigne - you're got to be f**king kidding me. Grow a pair, start paying attention to what you are listening to and take a stand against this bullshit.

Why are people so stupid about Guitar Hero (read the comments below the article)? No one who plays Guitar Hero and not real guitar actually think's they're musically talented. Idiots...
Anywho, I played the new-ish one on XBox with MCR's Dead!. It's pretty hip considering they let them use the actual version and not a cover.

Almost forgot - I went to the Madina Lake show here in Louisville last Friday and it was amazing as usual. However, I MUST point out that Fightstar, an opener for the show was fantastic and their live show is much better than the album stuff so if you get a chance to see them don't pass it up. Besides, I know some of you ladies go crazy for a british accent and Charlie's is nothing to balk at. ;)

VH1 Rock Honors

When it was announced that Bam Margera would be hosting the VH1 Rock Honors I was none too thrilled. This video of him destroying a hotel room doesn't raise my opinion of him. I mean, who does shit like this? This is so Motley Crue circa 1989 I can't stand it.

Onward and hopefully upward.

Genesis performed for the first time with my man Phil Collins in 15 years. I love Phil so bite it nay sayers. Check Stereogum for a review of the show and some pics here.

Projekt Revolution lineup and dates confirmed

Let me just say that I knew about this a month ago and was sworn to secrecy under the condition that I would get to release it when all the major news pages got to. Imagine my surprise when I saw it all over Blabbermouth. Sucks for me huh?

Anywho - the bands playing should make this the must-see show for Shame-free readers of the summer. The only thing that would have made this more 'Shame-free' would have been if A7X was playing. A girl can dream... ;)

Living Vicariously - The Bamboozle '07 Edition

We came. We saw. We ate $10 burritos.

Day 1:
The party – some good parts, some bad parts, mostly awesome cake parts. The Mother War cake looked amazing and tasted equally fantastic. Brown sugar chocolate anyone? Nothing helps out beer-induced hunger quite like a cake shaped like a woman in a gas mask, eh?

Once we made our way in we caught Madina Lake who put on an amazing show. The crowd was tame at the beginning and by the end it had grown three times its original size and the kiddies were going nuts! Their live show is something to definitely catch if you get the chance.

We caught The Almost which spurred a flurry of jokes pertaining to how they were "almost talented" and "almost The Used." In all reality though, they're not total shit. The singer told some lame jokes about Bam'boob'zle, but their performance was decent.

MC Hammer drew a crowd that rivaled that of Killswitch Engage. It was amazing, seriously. I watched a couple of songs in passing and unfortunately neither of them were 2 Legit 2 Quit or Hammer Time but in true Hammer form he had the big pants and a windbreaker that could rival a Cosby sweater topped off with about 15 choreographed dancers. Isn't hiring too many people what got him in trouble the first time around. Ah, hindsight isn't always 20/20 is it? The quality is shifty but you get a good idea of the crowd he pulled.

I'm going to back track a minute. Can someone please explain the thrill of Jeffree Star? When we walked in he was literally being swarmed by no fewer than 500 people. It's a dude in drag with airbrushed make-up. I don't get it. Enlighten me.

We saw Hellogoodbye, who opened for MCR. The most fun show I saw all day for sure. The singer looked like he should be in an episode of Ugly Betty or take over Rivers Cuomo's position in Weezer. I'm not really into dance music but when they brought out people dressed in food-related costumes you couldn't help but get involved.

My Chemical Romance put on an amazing show despite them being sick with salmonella poisoning. This was my first time seeing them live and to the people out there who aren't feeling MCR and can't figure out why they're huge – you clearly haven't seen them live either. They owned 40,000 people for an hour and a half. As per how their tour has been thus far, the played The Black Parade all the way through and then had an encore of songs from earlier albums which I don't remember but I think it included I'm Not Okay. Fill these in if your memory is better than mine was that day.

Day 2:
Considering the sunburn I was nursing (SPF 40 apparently wasn't enough) I didn't plan on staying long Sunday. We caught another performance from Madina Lake who were playing under the code name of Retardobot and we were treated to yet another amazing performance. You hear more of the tone deaf person filming singing than you do Nathan – you can see how into it the crowd was.

Killswitch Engage tore it up. There was growling, there were guitars, there were lude comments. It was rowdy.

Embedding was disabled so go here for the video.

I didn't stay for Juliette and the Licks or Linkin Park. Way too tired and honestly didn't really want to see Linkin Park. However, I am thoroughly disappointed I missed this:

Music, hot bitches and cupcakes!

Most of you know Sunshine, have read about her in our blogs or have spotted her in our top friends. Not only is she my partner-in-crime for all things music, she's also the owner of Cakes4Rockstars. What is Cakes4Rockstars you ask? It's a concoction of cakes, cupcakes and candies; with an edge. They're not your run-of-the-mill delicacies either. These are serious, high quality, cheat your diet, smack your mama desserts. Trust me, all of the above would be worth it! ;)
She recently has been gaining exposure by making cakes for rockstars (get it?) that you'll all be familiar with. Check out the one she did for The Dresden Dolls. Clever with the cherry filling, huh?

Or the one she did for Madina Lake – for those of you following the disappearance of Adalia – this is a clue!!

Or her latest creation, a cake for the birthday of Stone Sour drummer, Roy Mayorga.

Impressed? I thought you would be. Eyal from DAATH was too. Upon my mention of her confection she customized for them he commented, "Sunshine's cake rocked my world."
For those of you lucky enough to be going to Bamboozle, several groups of lovely ladies including myself will be hosting a party before the show with the main event being a "Mother War" cake designed by Cakes4Rockstars so be sure to stop by and get a piece!
So if you support music, hot bitches and cupcakes (now you know where we got the slogan) then show some love for Cakes4Rockstars.
p.s. If you're feeling like you may need a cake fit for a rockstar at your next event please contact her at sunshine@cakes4rockstars.com
