What a f*ck*ng stupid tattoo

Steve-o is such a joke. Not the funny ha-ha kind of joke, the sad "boy, his career is over" joke. Nothing like a tattoo of a Heartagram with a gratuitous penis attached to the bottom of it.

Is this some soft of statement or what? Maybe he's saying Bam Margera is a dick - now that I might agree with. Why Bam? Because I'm sure like 80% of the rest of the population he thinks it's about Bam and not about HIM.

p.s. Why are his pants so low? Ick.

2008 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominees

Rolling Stone has released the names of the 2008 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees for induction. It includes Madonna, the Beastie Boys, the Dave Clark Five, John Mellencamp, the Ventures, Donna Summer and Chic.

For more information about each of the inductees visit the Rolling Stone page.

How do you guys feel about these nominations? I get it I just wish I wasn't so tied to an image of what "rock and roll" should be. I know like, Madonna deserves to get nominated for something but I think don't think it's to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Maybe i'm way off base here. Oh well...

Gerard thinks "emo's a pile of shit"

Gerard Way recently did an interview with "The Campus" some random-ass college newspaper or something (I guess it's not too hard to get an interview afterall) where he stated:

"I think emo is F--ing garbage, it's bulls--. I think there's bands that unfortunately we get lumped in with that are considered emo and by default that starts to make us emo. All I can say is anyone actually listening to the records, put the records next to each other and listen to them and there's actually no similarities. I think emo's a pile of s--."

Speaking of "F--ing garbage" that's pretty much what the rest of this interview is. It was conducted by people who had no idea what they were doing and used questions from readers of the magazine that are so bad it's making me rethink my offer to one day let you guys write in questions.

Boxers of briefs? Seriously? Are they kidding me?

p.s. The Black Parade is not emo - if you would like to argue me on this one I will destroy you. Just heading off the know-nothings at the pass.

HIM album: good in Finland, not so hot in the UK

Venus Doom, the new HIM album incase you missed the memo, entered at #2 on theFinnish charts. However their single "Kiss of Dawn" didn't break the Top 40 in Britain but they're hoping for a Top Ten U.S. release. If you haven't heard the new album, you must. It's not your typical HIM album. If you don't want to buy the whole album then buy Love in Cold Blood off of iTunes. If someone at Sire Records has some sense they'll release it as a single.

I tried to get this Rock Sound this weekend but apparently it wasn't out yet but now it is and it will be mine, all MINE!!! MWAHAHAHAHA. The picture is bigger on Rock Sound's page. Oooh, those pretty green eyes. ROWR!

Venus Doom released today!

So I went out at lunch and bought the new album. Actually, I bought the deluxe edition or whatever the hell it's called. Target has the album on sale by the way. I couldn't find a picture of the cover of mine (it's different from the art cover they've been showing) so if someone has it be kind, please rewind. I mean, send it.

I should have an album review for you Thursday.

Tommy Lee's life is in shambles

Tommy Lee has left Motley Crue. Apparently they think his manager ruined not only Tommy's career but has also adversely affected the careers of the other three members with his reality tv stunts.

Read all about it here

The saga continues with a statement being made that Tommy is "not going to be in a band again" and that he wants to focus his energy on being a DJ. Watch the video in the link - he looks like a goon. As a side note, I REALLY want to understand DJ music, but I just don't. Sorry.

In related but far more useless news (if that's possible) Kid Rock called Tommy Lee a "loser" on "The Mikey Morning Show." He continues to say that the fight didn't have anything to do with Pam it had to do with Tommy starting shit. I think they're both kind of childish but I'm going to have to take Kid's side on this.

It's official! This picture just gave me cooties.

Cooking with Church

If you're a fan of Still Remains (and really, even if you're not) prepare to be entertained. Mike Church, guitars and vocals for Still Remains is quite the chef and has been filming a cooking show of sorts. Not only does the food look great, but they're pretty funny too. They're worth a watch for sure.

*Upon re-watching these I've decided they're not just pretty funny, they're hi-larious.

The Placebo Interview

Ms. Rose had an opportunity to talk with Stefan of Placebo recently at Projekt Revolution in Camden. Check it.

I recently did an interview with Placebo at Projekt Revolution in Camden, NJ. Placebo, for those of you in the dark is a three piece (Brian Molko, Stefan Olsdal and Steve Hewitt), British rock band that have been doing their thing internationally for a little over ten years. In 1996, their self-titled debut album brought the world a sound that was raw, untamed and uncensored honesty about sex, drugs, love and life backed by grinding guitars, heavy basslines and solid beats. Their latest album, Meds, has brought the band full circle and back to that same honesty. This summer they joined the Projekt Revolution tour and alongside bands like HIM, Taking Back Sunday and My Chemical Romance and have sufficiently unleashed a Revolution upon the people of North America. I got to spend some time in a very hot and humid Camden, NJ talking to bassist/guitarist Stefan Olsdal.

Even though Placebo has been around for over 10 years, American audiences still seem to be learning about them. I’ve heard other bands claim that American audiences are tough. Placebo have toured America, but to much smaller audiences than what they see in Europe. In Europe, Placebo sells out venues like the Tweeter Center in Camden, NJ where as here they would be lucky to sell out a club. I asked Stefan about this to which he explained that playing to American audiences like the ones we see at festivals is a chance for us to show them who we are and what we have to offer. He searched for a lighter and continued, “It’s definitely different but we get the chance to show people who might not have the chance otherwise.”

Their latest album, Meds, is an almost “back to basics” album for Placebo. What it offers up to listeners is a very organic and very band-based sound, according to Stefan. He stated that their work on Sleeping With Ghosts (previous album) was much more technology based, they spent a lot of time in front of computers chopping up beats and sounds and playing with keyboards, where as this one is more of a return to the sound they began with and trying to put less distance between the songs and the listener in a way not to be scared of our musicianship and songwriting skills.

Placebo has had the opportunity to work with some amazing musicians in the past including a tour with David Bowie before their first album was even finished (he also appeared on the title track to their album Without You I’m Nothing) They have also worked with Frank Black (on the DVD Soulmates Never Die – Live in Paris 2003 ) and on Meds there are guest vocals from the likes VV from The Kills (on the title track) and Michael Stipe on Broken Promise. I asked Stefan what this means to the band as artists. He explained that it was something that just happened as they encountered these other artists during their career. “It’s just a case of the more you’re around there doing it, the more you bump into these people and you kind of just strike up relationships. With Michael Stipe, he was the executive producer on a film we’d done (Velvet Goldmine), so that’s how we got to know him.” Stefan continued, “Why not ask him to see if he wants to come in and sing this track about infidelity between two men?” I think it worked out quite well.

I asked Stefan how it feels to hear other bands say they’ve been influenced by what Placebo has done. “Well, obviously it’s flattering and it’s not something we think about a lot, because you know, it would be detrimental to your ego, but I guess if you’re looking at it objectively through music history it’s a cyclical thing. We’ve been influenced by bands and now we’ve been around for over ten years so there are artists or bands who have possibly been influenced by us and the fact that we are here and we’ve had a certain amount of success.”

So how does a band that has been together as long as Placebo maintain their relationships with each other despite spending so much time together. Stefan points out the interior of the tour bus, “This has been our home now for the past five weeks, the make up chair is there, there’s no dressing room so we’re on top of each other all of the time and then with heat like this you can’t go anywhere.” He smiled as he explained, “If we didn’t get along with each other we wouldn’t be here now. And believe me we have traveled in a lot smaller and a lot shittier vehicles than this. At least here we change the bed linens every week or so.”

In the spirit of being “Shame-free” I asked what exactly Placebo is “Shame-free” about. “Shame is so 90’s.” he stated. He elaborated by explaining that since the beginning that they had been very honest about almost all aspects of their personal lives, preferences, lifestyles, influences, and inner concept of the freedom of expression. The three members of Placebo did not grow up together and come from different upbringings. Stefan considers them “three outsiders who came together.” He continued, “Just in a way we thought that by being who we are together kind of promoted a sense of --- don’t be ashamed of who you are, follow your dreams and don’t let anyone tell you what to do or what to be. I think that is still an essential foundation in the band’s psyche.” He paused for a second and then added, “We also share underwear, but they’re clean underwear.”

With just a few more PR dates left I asked what they were going to do when Projekt Revolution ended. He didn’t hesitate and replied with a tired smile, “Take a break.”

The VMA's were a clusterfuck

Obviously, my first comment is going to be about Ms. Spears. Firstly, we all know the performance was horrendous. She looked like she'd been shot with a tranquilizer dart. Additionally, she had no business wearing that outfit. Some of you will say, "But Shame-free, she's had two children." or "But Shame-free, she wasn't fat. Do you want everyone to look anorexic?"

Let's get a few things straight. If you are making your comeback, which one would assume this was, and you feel it necessary to wear a black bikini in front of millions of people you better make damn sure you look amazing - not sort-of alright. She could have just as easily wore some sort of slinky top and avoided it all together. Clearly her life is full of people who couldn't care less about her personally or professionally. Her bad weave alone was proof of this. I actually feel bad for her.

Onward, Tommy Lee and Kid Rock got into a fight. Considering they have both slept with the STD Queen of Los Angeles I think we both know who it pertained to. Could the two of them possibly look anymore tired? Just to clear it up, I'm talking about Tommy and Kid, not Pam's boobs.

Kanye West further reinterated why I can't stant him. Acting out in quite the unsavory fashion yet again he pouted because he didn't win. If I ever had the chance I'd sucker punch him right in the mouth. But only if he couldn't hit me back.

Sad to say that none of the rock performances were outstanding. Fall Out Boy and Foo Fighters were what you would have expected. The stand-out performance of the night was Chris Brown. As you all know, I wouldn't typically write about him but he was impressive on all counts.

All the clips can be seen at http://www.mtv.com/ including some silliness about Ashlee Simpson giving Pete Wentz a lapdance. Check out the 60 second summary here. It was more interesting than the actual show.

Live Nation Employs Ordained Minister...Lyn Z becomes a Way

So....Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance married Lyn Z of Mindless Self Indulgence last night. If you remember we posted some fun pictures a few weeks ago of them getting their smooch on beside a tour bus. Well kiddoes apparently they think they're in it for the long haul and they've gotten married.
In news equally as important, considering Gerard has based the past, like, 2 years of his life and countless interviews around the fact that he's sober - he's holding a wine bottle. I don't want to get on the "jump to conclusions" mat here - perhaps he's holding for someone...that worked for me the last time I got caught with a joint. Just kidding kids - say no to drugs.

Good for them - I hope they're happy. They sure are cute. :)

p.s. somebody needs to crop that ol' big-faced girl out of the picture.
