Some video goodness

The new video for HIM's, Bleed Well

Speaking of HIM - Rolling Stone is having readers guess who will be on the cover of their new issue. I immediately saw the scarf and thought Ville Valo but surely RR isn't hip enough to put a band like HIM on the cover...

Link

Fall Out Boy covers Pantera

White Stripes with, Conquest.

His voice just ain't what it used to be - but that's what happens when you're performing at 200 years old. I <3>

I normally wouldn't write about a band like Extreme however, it reminds me of a funny story. When I was in high school I was at a friends house and his little brother was in the shower and was singing "More Than Words" at the top of his lungs and didn't realize everyone in the house could hear him - hilarious.

Avenged and HIM on Rockline

Avenged most recent interview with Rockline has been posted for streaming as has HIM's. Watch them here.

Also, Avenged are on the cover of the new RockSound.

All kinds of legal drama

Bands and their labels have been working overtime on these lawsuits either for or against them. Interesting that as the music industry dies everyone begins bleeding every last cent they can before it's too late.

Red Hot Chili Peppers are suing Showtime over the use of the title Californication. The cable channel states that it comes from someone else completely, and not from the RHCP album and song with the same name. They add that the use of Dani California as a characters name in the show is also suspect.

Link

Pete Wentz's sex tape has finally been released though not real will still give you girls a little thrill. Since we've already seen his junk just imagine both together and you should be fine.

Link

And if you're wondering why Fall Out Boy have discontinued the use of "Where The Wild Things Are" imagery in their tour, it's because someone in their camp finally realized they hadn't gotten permission from the writer of the childrens book, Maurice Sendak. So, there are two lessons here - don't be a 'duh' and forget basic things like using shit you didn't create to make money and if you bought a shirt from the first part of this tour, you better hold on to that like it's gold - COLLECTORS ITEM!!!

Link

More of Marilyn Manson's questionable purchases have made it into the headlines. Though we all assumed he bought sick shit with his money (he is Manson after all) who knew he was into the skeletons of 4 year old chinese girls? To make it worse, they are alleging that he made it into a chandelier. Sick.

The Romantics, the ones who did the song "What I Like About You" are suing Guitar Hero III for releasing a cover that sounds too much like the original. They're also demanding it be taken off of shelves. Geez...like, if it were someone who had more than one song anyone had ever heard of I would understand but really - who cares?

New Gwen Stefani video - Early Winter

Gorgeous as usual and the songs not nearly as shitty as I thought it would be.

More Radiohead insights from people other than myself.

People are still talking about the free downloading Radiohead used for their new album, In Rainbows. Some love it, some hate it but it's all interesting.

In her always incoherent but often idiot savant way Courtney Love weighs in with something pretty intelligent, as long as you can decipher what she's saying.

For a translated version - click here

Maynard James Keenan of Tool and Puscifer feels like this new system of free downloading and paying what want will backfire on the little guys. Here

And Gene Simmons further proves he's only in it for the money. But we can't deny while he is an ass, he's richer off exploiting his fans than any of us will ever dream to be. Dirty, dirty. Here

Amy Winehouse is an obvious drug user

Notice how I said "an obvious" instead of "obviously?" Watch this clip and you'll know why and she ain't wiping her nose. Trust.

New Madina Lake video

At least I think it's new - I haven't seen it yet. Enjoy.

Lily Allen in her panties.

Most people don't like the word panties but you'll get over it. As some of you know and now all of you will find out I am skilled in the art of lingerie. I have a natural knack for it and I'm damn good. So, it was very exciting for me to find out that Lily Allen is set to be the new face for Agent Provocateur. If you are unfamiliar with the line, it's not for the faint of heart. This is some seriously sexy stuff. Not trasy, just daring. Whilst finding this information I also found out that at one point or now or something (who knows) Daisy Lowe, Gavin Rossdales love child was the face for a while. Going through girls like toilet paper, they are.

See more pictures of the new Lily. She looks fantastic even if she does look a little like Christina Ricci. Link

Crap is King

Price has decided to completely turn the entire world against him. He's cited fansites to remove all images, video clips, sound bytes, etc. etc. from their websites or else they will be sued.

What the f*ck is he thinking? Is this some kind of publicity stunt like when he changed his name to that symbol? Why on earth would you threaten to sue fan sites? I read some of the comments below this article and some people were defending his actions by stating that the fansites had been treating him badly and making overly critical remarks about him and his career of late. I think he's cutting off his nose to spite his face. It's amazing to be so rich that you don't care if you act like an asshole to the people who put you there in the first place isn't it?

Owners and contributors to the fansites are guessing that this is he and his managements way of controlling the media machine while he takes on the music industry. If HIM pulled some crazy shit like this, I would be finished with them. I hope his decision fares better for him.

Link

Is it conceited or funny that Slash dressed as himself for Halloween?

Link

What the f*ck?

I know this has nothing to do with music but this is so strange I had to share. I don't know if you guys are ready for this story but here goes...

I read about this on Dlisted and while I love Michael K. over there I was a little skeptical on whether or not this was real. Well, the BBC reported a story about it and that's good enough for me. Children in Africa have taken to getting high off of sewage fumes. I know - it's vile and I wish I could tell it wasn't true but apparently it is. I've never felt so thoroughly disgusted and deeply saddened by something at the same time. On one hand their huffing methane from human waste and on the other (and don't get wrong, I am no sympathizer to drug abuse) but they're escaping the harsh realities of their lives. This "trend" has moved into the states which befuddles me to no end. I mean, at what point do you decide that huffing sewage is worth the high? Amazing.

I love Gavin even if he does have a bird chest.

Gerard discusses fans, tangible goods

Gerard Way recently did an interview with Rolling Stone in which he discusses his love for record stores, his wishes for rock stars to grow past the "sex, drugs and rock and roll" cliche and what kind of fans he thinks MCR have.

Internet technology seems to have helped your music. How has it hurt music?

Even I miss going to the record shop. In the next five or ten years, kids who are growing up will have never been to a record store. That's a crazy feeling. It makes the music a little more disposable, it makes the artwork and the packaging a little bit invalid, which is a drag. There's nothing better than holding something physical. I loved the discovery of buying music solely off the packaging, the name of the band, the names of the songs. The Pink Floyd albums always got me — Wish You Were Here, Animals, Dark Side — or a Good Riddance 7", with a photo of a distorted baby on the cover. I remember falling in love with [Smashing Pumpkins'] Gish, and then counting the days until Siamese Dream came out, then taking the hour-long roundtrip bus-ride to the mall to buy it. It was an incredible feeling, it was something I had invested in.

As a former drug abuser, how do you gauge the mantra, "sex, drugs and rock & roll"?

It's a dinosaur in itself. If we, as musicians, could evolve past that, maybe we could make something worthwhile. That's not just me speaking as somebody who got clean and sober — that has nothing to do with it. When I was abusing drugs, the allure of self-destruction kept me in it. There's something very romantic about self-destruction and sabotaging your life, and taking a hammer to it. Honestly, it's bullshit. That doesn't mean we can't be crazy and expressive and amazing or that we have to behave, because we're all artists and we're all nuts in some way, but you can treat people with respect and yourself with respect.

How would you describe the kids that love your band?

Extremely creative, intelligent, expressive and very individual, aside from liking to wear black. They come from all over the place, and in their hometown they're probably the only kid who looks like that, but when they get to our show they're all the same. One of the best compliments I can get from one of them is, "I met my best friend at one of your shows," or, "I met my best friend networking on the Internet, trying to get to your show." That's cool, because I didn't have that. I couldn't find any NOFX fans in my area.

Amy Winhouse is turning into a talented Britney Spears

Amy Winehouse had a rough night at the MTV Europe Music Awards. Upon accepting her Artists' Choice Award presented to her by Michael Stipe she was only managed to mutter, "Um...thanks". As Stipe put it, "She clammed up, she had a moment there and didn't say anything (on the microphone), which is a little sad,"

Amy, girl. Get it together! Later she performed "Back to Black" with a less than impressive performance. Watch it here:

I've seen clips of her singing drunk, singing high, singing unenthusiastically, but something is seriously going on inside that head of hers. I have never seen such an impressive voice come out of someone who is half-assing it.

Oh yeah, and on top of this, she lost her visa to get into the U.S. after agreeing to pay a fine for getting caught with weed in Norway. Who knew agreeing to pay the fine meant admitting guilt? She can't catch a break.
