Join Me in unemployment

A 6th grade teacher in Union, South Carolina was put on leave for playing"Join Me in Death" by HIM during her classes. Surely your first reaction will be, "That's the most stupid thing I have ever heard. There is nothing wrong with that song." However, your second and more logical reaction should be, "Wait, yeah, you shouldn't play songs about suicide to sixth graders. Maybe she should keep her musical tastes at home."

You might say, "But Shame-free, it's a Romeo and Juliet story, and that book is taught in school." Let me remind you that it is taught in high school - not middle school. No matter how you look at this and how blown out of proportion with parents this inevitably was and will be, she shouldn't have played it, she certainly shouldn't have asked the kids to listen to it and she definitely shouldn't have burned copies of it for them to take home and listen to. People who aren't familiar with HIM won't understand it is tongue-in-cheek and trust that if my sixth grader came home telling me their teacher was playing Type O Negative, I would surely be concerned. Aside from all this - it's a little obsessive on her part, don't you think?

Amy doesn't "pull a Britney" at Grammy's

How many of you were hoping Amy Winehouse's performance at the Grammy's wasn't as grim as Britney Spears. I have no doubt the Spears incident was mentioned at a least a few times before Winehouse went out there. I'm sure you have all seen it by now, but if not, she did fantastic.



Amy won 5 awards and since Natalie Cole wanted to get her name in the paper she commented that we're rewarding bad behavior. Says the former drug addict. Mind your own business Natalie.

Frances Bean in Harper's Bazaar

This is a great article. She's so damn smart - let's hope she stays that way.

"These people are fascinated by me, but I haven't done anything," Frances says. "I'm famous by default. I came out of the womb and people wanted to know who I was because of my parents. If you're a big Nirvana fan, a big Hole fan, then I understand why you would want to get to know me, but I'm not my parents. People need to wait until I've done something valid with my life."

On her love of the play, Grease: "Oh, I hate those people who are consistently the Sandys," she scoffs. "I'm always kind of a badass. I'm an attention whore. I'm not gonna lie." She sees a little bit of Rizzo in herself: "I'm sort of hard. I'm not mean; I'm just sort of cocky. But you know when Rizzo sings that song, 'There Are Worse Things I Could Do'? She's like, I can feel and I can cry. I'm really outgoing, but there's times I want to be by myself."

Frances prizes her tight-knit set of friends. "I can count on one hand how many people I trust," she says. She is also wary of indulging in the petty dramas of teenagehood. "I've had a different perspective on what real drama is," she says quietly. "I'm not a fantasy-type person. I'm really pessimistic. It's horrible." Glass half empty? "No, more like a glass is just there."

Courtney Love is at it again. Name dropping, trying to save the world, embarrassing herself. She should be a scientilogist, aren't those all requirements to be an L. Ron Hubbard follower. (Yeah, I'm making fun. There is no excuse for Scientology.)

Here are my 2 favorite moments. The second literally made me LOL.

"Marilyn Monroe was strapped to a gurney too, but, other than me and Britney, no one's ever been strapped to a gurney."

I hate to break it to Courtney, but I think more than three people have been strapped to a gurney, otherwise they would probably just use a piece of plywood. Taken out of context, surely, much more fun that way, definitely.

Britney's not the only one she's bothering. "I went up to Lohan's room one time and there was a show on called 101 Celebrity Oops, and I'm, like, every other one - boobs out, legs akimbo, throwing s**t at Madonna. I'm like, 'Lindsay look, drugs are bad!'"

Her interrupting Madonna's interview and the time Tom Cruise and Matt Lauer went at each other are probably my two favorite reasons for live television. Honestly, I think they might be two of my favorite moments in television history, period.
