HIM - Heartkiller video

Life has been hectic the past few weeks so I'm a little delayed but I did get to go to New York and see Ms. S it made it all worth it.  Anyway, HIM released their video for the first single off of their new album, Screamworks: Love in Theory and Practice.  Heartkiller as a song is fair but as a video is strange and has a pretty low production video but you get some good shots of Ville's new ink, skinny body, aging face and Lindes ridiculously long hair.

Normally I would be disappointed since there isn't anything scheduled in the US (as far as I know), however, at least there is something.  Jesus Christ.  This is only the first HIM post this year and it's November.  It's like coming home again, no?  *squee*

It's been quite a while since HIM released Venus Doom but I am pleased to announce that after our long wait, they will begin working on a new album in August with a tentative release date of early 2010.

The working title for the new album is SCREAMWORKS: Love in Theory and Practice

Join Me in unemployment

A 6th grade teacher in Union, South Carolina was put on leave for playing"Join Me in Death" by HIM during her classes. Surely your first reaction will be, "That's the most stupid thing I have ever heard. There is nothing wrong with that song." However, your second and more logical reaction should be, "Wait, yeah, you shouldn't play songs about suicide to sixth graders. Maybe she should keep her musical tastes at home."

You might say, "But Shame-free, it's a Romeo and Juliet story, and that book is taught in school." Let me remind you that it is taught in high school - not middle school. No matter how you look at this and how blown out of proportion with parents this inevitably was and will be, she shouldn't have played it, she certainly shouldn't have asked the kids to listen to it and she definitely shouldn't have burned copies of it for them to take home and listen to. People who aren't familiar with HIM won't understand it is tongue-in-cheek and trust that if my sixth grader came home telling me their teacher was playing Type O Negative, I would surely be concerned. Aside from all this - it's a little obsessive on her part, don't you think?

HIM will release "Digital Versatile Doom: Live at the Orpheum Theatre" on March 11th. I hate to be that guy, but HIM are pretty hit or miss live and if you don't agree you're lying. I've seen them three times and the first two it kind of sucked. Anyway, I'm sure many of you will buy this and I trust that you will be honest in your critique because if I go buy it and it sucks I'll hunt you down and grind your bones to make my bread.
